An Easy, Inexpensive Caregiving Solution

If you’re like most at-home caregivers, you felt overwhelmed when you first start researching how to care for your loved one with dementia.

You saw a massive amount of things online that could help you and your loved one but you didn’t know the exact steps to take and what would make living with dementia and the challenging behaviors it comes with easier to manage.

If this is you, what you need are the tools, community support and real world help from a professional who’s got your back. That’s why I created a membership subscription service called “Dementia Caregiving Made Easy.”

What you get is membership access to an easy to follow, step-by-step guided path to handling challenging dementia behaviors with half the effort.

Every month you’ll get a few small bite sized lessons, 1-2 action steps, and tools (planners, cheat sheets, checklists) and a small groups of other caregivers, all designed to take on the most important challenges caregivers face so that you can set yourself up for success in every area that applies to your journey as a dementia caregiver.

I was once in your shoes…

Five years ago, I began working at a mental health facility for seniors with dementia and boy did I NOT know what I was getting myself into. These folks are the worst of the worst when it comes to challenging behaviors and I was completely overwhelmed. I came in to work every day dealing with patients who were very confused, screaming, acting out and overall seemed unreachable. It was difficult, sad, and scary not knowing for sure if I could keep them safe and get them the support they needed.

What’s worse, a lot of the things I was taught in school or intuitively knew to do actually made matters worse. If you’ve ever answered a demand like “I want to go home!” with the response, “You are home”, you know what I’m talking about. The obvious responses to things just don’t work when someone has dementia.

And even worse, denying unreasonable requests would get me in trouble and make me feel like I was bad at my job. Nothing made sense, the work was exhausting and at the end of the day I’d done a ton of work and still felt like I did more harm than good.

But then something interesting happened… I started noticing that some of the other activity therapists and skilled CNAs were much more natural with the patients and could get them easily comply in situations wherein I was hopeless. They seemed productive with the patients, giving them moments of happiness, forming real connections with them.

I was talking to one of the most experienced therapists and she shared with me a secret she used to get the patients to do what she wanted them to do at least twice as often and with at least half the effort. When she explained what it was, it sounded crazy to me, but I tried it out and suddenly I found most of my patients stopped fighting me, my days stopped being a struggle, and I was SHOCKED!

Some of my coworkers started noticing how much better I was with the patients and asked me what had changed, so I shared what I’d learned with them and then they started having better results with their patients too. So I finally created a system, and now I want to share it with you. And the best part is, it’ll free up a TON of your previous energy and time all the while making you’re loved one’s life better and you two more connected.

What “Dementia Caregiving Made Easy” Will Do For You…

Here’s a sample of some of the great things you’ll learn:

  • The 4 reasons why most caregivers don’t get any help from friends, family and their local community and how to overcome these blocks

  • The secrets to finding free money and services from charities and organizations- the things you NEED to know that most caregivers don’t find out until it’s too late and spend thousands of dollars you can save by simply knowing what possible things you might need to prepare for and how to save a ton of money.

  • How to look for and get rid of noises and light that could be triggering challenging behaviors

  • How to plan a month’s worth of activities in 30 minutes that help prevent or stop challenging behaviors

  • The 4 types of activities you can use to create meaningful experiences for your LO that will drastically improve their behavior and keep them healthy (learning about this will be a relaxing boost of confidence since you’ll gain a ton of effectiveness.)

  • How to support your LO in such a way that they maintain their own skills instead of always needing to do everything yourself (This is ESSENTIAL to their mental health and slowing their decline.)

  • The specific activities that you can do with your LO that will bring out their “former self” and cause you to form a stronger connection with them.

  • How to plan a self-care routine that actually makes sense for your life as a caregiver

  • Why you keep ending up feeling like you’re always coming up short, and what to do so that you stop feeling like “it’s never enough” and instead create a bedrock foundation of confidence as a caregiver (The best part is this will make you MORE effective as you go, because you’ll have a deeper understanding of the fundamentals that all the most successful caregivers share in common.)

  • You know that overwhelming feeling you get when you just don’t know how much longer you can do this? I’ll teach you how to give yourself the mental breaks you need in these moments, even if you can’t leave the room, so you get the recharge you need to keep your sanity… right there on the spot.

  • Help organizing help for emergencies related to challenging behaviors like wandering

  • A few simple, yet very important signs to be aware of for your own safety advice (If you aren’t aware of these you could be risking danger.)

  • How to handle challenging behaviors with half the effort so you can take care of your loved one (“LO”) and get to do the things that are important to you.

  • I’ll walk you through all of the most common dementia behaviors, and how to respond best to them or even get them to stop.

  • What to do when your LO has difficult and sometimes aggressive demands and outbursts - and why most of your responses work against you, and what to do instead.

  • The 3 things you can do to dramatically reduce Sundowning so it doesn’t all fall apart later in the evening (this alone makes life MUCH easier since you need to be able to relax to be able to sustain yourself as a caregiver long term so you don’t keep losing your mind.)

  • How to talk to your LO and understand what they need when they say things that don’t make sense, and exactly what to say so that you can quickly get their needs taken care of (Hint: It’s not what they say, it’s what they’re thinking of that is associated with what they’re saying.)

  • Why caregivers end up feeling like they are “walking on eggshells”, and what is going to set your LO off or cause a meltdown so you always know in advance, allowing you to finally be able to relax.

  • How to answer difficult emotional q’s effortlessly without upsetting them… so even if they are asking the most difficult questions (like, asking of their deceased child “Do you know where he went?”) you’ll know exactly how to keep them happy without looking like you’re trying to avoid the question.

  • How to have peace with your LO even when they’re being rude, obnoxious, and outright impossible to deal with (This is THE KEY to keeping your sanity long-term… miss just this one thing and you’ll eventually lose it or grow less connected with your LO.)

  • What to do when dementia turns your LO into a person you don’t recognize, and how to powerfully step into this new role you have in their life.

  • How to handle hallucinations, even when they are completely convinced, so you can confidently navigate your LO through anything.

  • Have access to guest dementia experts in the end of the month Q&A to go over things like medication, placement and financial planning.

  • And much, much, much more…

Even better, you’ll start getting some of these benefits and access to the members area immediately after signing up.

What You Get In The Membership

Every month is themed around a different one of these stages, and every week comes with a short video lesson (usually around 15 minutes) to help develop you in this area.

To learn more about everything we cover along the success path and how it’s going to make your life a whole lot easier, watch the video below:

A Dedicated Group of a Few Caregivers Like You To Help You Achieve Results

We only open the membership for 1 week a few times per year so that all new members can be placed in groups of only a few people per group. Through different points of your membership, you'll have the option to join a smaller, tight knit group for a few reasons:

  • More direct support associated with a weekly or monthly objectives.

  • A smaller group in the community knowing your situation in case you ever need help and that can keep you accountable to meeting your goals.

  • Get personal advice and tips from other caregivers directly.

  • Brainstorm ideas and get feedback from other caregivers.

Joining a group is very easy - all you have to do is say "yes".

Shortly after joining the membership, our groups coordinator will be reaching out to you to get you assigned to a group.

Groups will meet weekly for 1 hour to discuss the weekly training and everyone will get a chance to share any questions, concerns, and what your dealing with, and your progress.

Every group will have a group leader that will help lead the group calls to keep them organized.

You'll get to choose which group you join based on what group meetup time best fits your schedule for the weekly call.

Groups are not set in stone forever, and after the first month you can stay in your group, move to a different group, or stop participating in groups all together since there will be future opportunities to join.

There is no better opportunity to gain personal connections with other caregivers like you in a safe and caring environment. You’ll finally have people who understand you to bounce your ideas off of, get advice from, and just be able to talk to when the going gets tough, because we’re all in this together. With personal groups, you won’t have to feel alone ever again.

Caregiver Success Stories

puzzleSheets.jpg

“You and your workshops are a godsend. I can tell you I have already noticed myself being more patient with my dad. You told the story of the guy who lit up when you told him good job tonight but also last time as well. I took that to heart and we recently started doing his word searches again from The Perk. The more I told him good job when he found a word, the more excited he was to find the next one. He actually finished 2 word searches this week which is something he hadn't been able to do in the last couple of months. He was so proud of himself.”

— Dana W.

“That is wonderful to be a part of what you have created to help caregivers. This gave me a new start. A new way to look at the situation, an opportunity to give my husband a loving happy life as much as I can. ”

Ask Me Your Questions Directly w/ FREE Monthly Q&A’s

Every month, members can ask me and other professional caregivers anything on our monthly live Q&A sessions.

As a very special one-time bonus, I’d like to give you FREE access to my monthly Q&A sessions I do with other professional caregivers.

When I was first starting out as a caregiver, one of the single most important things I did was learn from the experienced professionals that were already having the kind of success that I wanted.

Sure… I learned a lot through the normal trainings and researching online… but my biggest breakthroughs came from learning and observing caregivers who were “the best”… and finding out just what exactly they did that made their work seem so easy and natural.

Surprisingly, many of the caregivers I found to be the very best weren’t the particularly patient “saints” you’d expect them to be, but people like all of us who have good and bad days, just better systems in place.

I believe that if these caregivers could be amazing with the patients, then so could I… if I knew the secrets. And it turned out I was right.

Learning from other caregivers is vitally important… I can’t tell you how many YEARS of time and effort this cut off of my learning curve… or even if I would have EVER achieved the skills I have with dementia patients without taking this vital step

Because this is so important, I’ve begun tracking down as many of these masters as I can to get them to “spill their guts” for the benefit of caregivers and their loved ones alike. Every month I do either a workshop or a live Q&A session with another caregiver who is VERY good with dementia patients.

Here’s how it works: Become a member today, and you’ll get a year’s worth of Q&A sessions for included for free with your membership. The general public has to pay $19.95 per session, but each session for a whole year is yours free just for being a member - but this special free access offer is only available with your purchase right now.

Here’s How It Works…

When you click on one of the order buttons below, you’ll go to my secure order page for your credit card information.

When you use my secure order form, you’ll get instant access to the members area of the website. Just look for your login information in your email, and then come back to www.dementiasuccesspath.com and click on the Members Login button at the top of the page.

Your transaction is secure – using our secure server, your order information is transmitted using the latest SSL encryption technology to ensure complete and total privacy and security.

The whole process just takes a few minutes and you’ll be able to start watching the success path videos and the first week’s content right away.

Once inside, make sure to sign up for the Opening Ceremony on Monday, May 4th (and if you can’t make it, just put aside an hour or so on May 5th to watch the recap) so you can get a more personal introduction to Krista, your fellow members, and the journey we will be embarking on.

Sometime during “enrollment week” (between now and the Opening Ceremony), you’ll be hearing from Jaimie Montague, our groups coordinator, who will help you get assigned to a group if you’d like to participate in that aspect of the membership.

After the enrollment week, it will officially be week 1 starting May 4th, so along with your group we will work together to help each other achieve the objections of week 1. Week 2’s content will become available on Monday, May 10th, and every week thereafter another week of content will become available.

It’s all very intuitive and when you join there will a welcome video to walk you through the members area. There’s a progress bar and everything - it’s a breeze.

After May 3rd, the membership will close up for several months assuming it hasn’t closed early. I only allow for so many spots and I only open the membership a few times a year to maintain a high quality and personal experience for my members, and to keep the community active and engaged. So if you don’t purchase your membership right now, I can’t guarantee you’ll get access later.

Let’s Wrap This Up

Here’s a recap of what you’re going to get:

Dementia Success Path.png
  1. Step-by-step training - each month you’ll make progress on the caregiver success path, with a short video lesson every week.

Members Only FB Header.jpg

2. Exclusive Facebook group access and a dedicated personal group of a few other members to help you out and keep you accountable.

3. Exclusive tools found only in the membership and no where else

Including a couple of things you’ll get access to right away for free so you can have a look inside the membership early.

4. Access to Our Monthly Q&A Sessions

Including a spot in our monthly Q&A’s where you get to ask me and another professional caregiver anything you want to know.

Let me ask you this: What if the membership ends up just helping you deal with ONE challenging behavior your loved one does over and over? If that behavior wasn’t a problem any more, what would that be worth to you?

Now ask yourself: What if there’s even a chance that this membership can actually help you deal with one challenging behavior after another - so that you have more free time, essentially giving you your life back… what would that be worth? What if you really can learn how to get help from others and put systems in place that allow you to live the life you deserve AND be an amazing caregiver, all while improving your relationship with your LOWD?

How much would that be worth to you? A thousand dollars? Ten thousand? More? For most caregivers I know, it would be priceless.

Just the POSSIBILITY of having this kind of success with your caregiving would be worth the investment. I personally invested thousands of dollars in training for my career.

I wish that I would have been able to buy this knowledge, insight, experience, and support for $24 a month when I started. And I know that you’ll be glad you made the investment in yourself once you have your first success.

This much is for sure: For many months to come, you’re going to be dealing with the incredible challenges that come with being a caregiver. It might look like arguing with your loved one… it might look like not knowing what to do… it might look like tearing your hair out and crying in frustration… it might look like a depressing outlook of feeling like your life has been taken from you.

The question is, are you going to know exactly what to do to succeed? Are your next steps going to look like a clear, illuminating path forward? Or are you going to end up feeling frustrated and hopeless, and never know what life could have been like with some more guidance?

I have one final thought to share with you.

After studying behavior for many years, I know one thing: If you don’t make the decision to get this part of your life handled right now, there’s a very very small chance that you’re going to do anything about it in the future and you’ll end up feeling stuck.

You know how they say that you can’t tell someone how to get somewhere unless you’ve been there yourself? Well I’ve been there, and I’m going to show you the way.
