Privacy Policy for Dementia Success Path & “Dementia Help Now” App
Effective Date: January 02, 2019
Last Updated: July 17, 2025
1. Introduction
Dementia Success Path ("us", "we", or "our") operates the website https://dementiasuccesspath.com (the "Website") and the "Dementia Help Now" mobile application for iOS and Android (the "App"). This policy refers to both the Website and the App collectively as the "Service."
This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data. We use your data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you.
2.1. Personal Data You Provide
While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information ("Personal Data") that can be used to contact or identify you. This may include:
Email address
First name and last name
Phone number
2.2. Usage Data (Automatically Collected)
We may also collect information on how the Service is accessed and used ("Usage Data"). This Usage Data may include your device's Internet Protocol address (e.g., IP address), browser type, operating system, the pages or screens of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, time spent on those pages, and other diagnostic data.
2.3. Tracking, Cookies & Local Storage
For our Website: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like beacons and scripts) to track activity and hold certain information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies.
For our App: We use your device's local, sandboxed storage (AsyncStorage) to save your authentication status, a list of your favorite videos, and your recently viewed history. This data is stored only on your device within the App's secure container. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising SDKs in the App.
2.4. Device Permissions (App Only)
Our App is designed to be minimally invasive. We do not request permissions for notifications, location, camera, or contacts.
Local Storage (Automatic): The App uses your device's local storage to save your authentication token and user preferences (favorites, recently viewed). This is essential for the App to function correctly.
Microphone (Not Used): The App does not use, access, or request permission for the microphone. Our App Store listing includes a mandatory notice from Apple regarding microphone usage because a standard video-playback library included in the app technically has the capability to access the microphone. However, our app's code never activates this capability or records any audio.
3. How We Use Your Data
Dementia Success Path uses the collected data for the following purposes:
To provide and maintain our Service
To create and manage your account
To notify you about critical changes to our Service
To allow you to use interactive features like "Favorites" and "Recently Viewed"
To provide customer support
To gather analysis and valuable information so we can improve our Service
To monitor the usage and stability of our Service
To detect, prevent, and address technical issues
4. Transfer and Disclosure of Data
Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your home jurisdiction. Your consent to this Privacy Policy represents your agreement to that transfer.
We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely. We may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
Comply with a legal obligation
Protect and defend the rights or property of Dementia Success Path
Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service
Protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public
Protect against legal liability
5. Service Providers
We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service ("Service Providers"), such as cloud hosting providers (e.g., Amazon Web Services) and crash analytics services. These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
6. Security of Data
The security of your data is important to us. We use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, such as HTTPS for data in transit. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 18 ("Children"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
